PERCENTAGES........

First of all friends very sorry for keep u all waiting as I was busy preparing wonderful notes for you.

The topic that we gonna startup with is “PERCENTAGES” which is very very crucial in dealing with DI questions and Quants part as well. So LETs start:

CONVERSION OF PERCENTAGE TO FRACTION: To convert percentage into fraction we need to remove the percentage sign and divide that quantity by 100. For eg:
45%= 45/100      20%= 20/100      10%= 10/100
CONVERSION OF FRACTIONS TO PERCENTAGE: You just need to multiply the fraction by 100. For eg:
1/4 = ¼ *100= 25%           1/2 =1/2 *100= 50%
LEARN THE FOLLOWING TABLE BY HEART FOR FASTER CALCULATIONS (FRACTIONS/ PERCENTAGE)
FRACTION

1/2= 50%

1/3 = 33.33%
2/3 =66.67%

¼ =25%
2/4=50%
¾=75%

1/5=20%
2/S=40%
3/5=60%
4/5=80%

1/6=16.67%
2/6=1/3=33.33%
3/6=1/2=50%
4/6=2/3=66.67
5/6=83.33%
1/7=14.28%
2/7=28.56%
3/7=42.84%
4/7=57.12%
5/7=71.40%
1/8=12.5%

1/9=11.11%

1/10=10%

1/11=9.09%

1/12=8.33%

1/13=7.69%

1/14=7.28%

1/15=6.67%

1/16=6.25%

1/17=5.88%

1/18=5.55%

1/19=5.26%

1/20=5%

**I have converted all the fractions to percentage by multiplying 100 to them.
You all may be thinking that this is not useful data but I’ll explain you the importance of this via different questions.

Q1) Find:
1)      33.33% of 84       2) 66.67% of 90       3)42.84% of 91              4) 57.12% of 70.
Do not  try conventional way of finding the percentage problem like 33.33% of 84 can be calculated as (33.33/100)*84 which is very time consuming job and yield very complex result.
Solution:
From the above table we know the percentage values in fraction that is:
33.33%= 1/3       66.67%= 2/3       42.84%= 3/7       57.12%=4/7
1) 33.33% of 84 = 1/3 * 84=28
2)66.67% of 90= 2/3 *90=60
3)42.84% of 91= 3/7 * 91= 39
4)57.12% of 70= 4/7 * 70= 40
From above we can see that how easy is this to find the percentages by converting them into fractions.
So learn the table as much as you can for maximum types of percentages values so that you can solve problems in seconds which matters the most I guess.

EXERCISE:
EVALUATE:
1)15.78% OF 57      2)23.52% OF 51            3) 46.15% OF 91                4)68.75% OF 32        5)87.5% OF 96
6) 81.81% OF 110              7) 28.57% OF 70                8) 44.44% OF 99                9) 2.67% OF 60

10)38.88% OF 180

BELOW MENTIONED IS THE BAR GRAPH REPRESENTING THE PRODUCTION OF 3 TYPES OF CARS IN THOUSANDS IN 2010, 11, 12, 13. Answer the following questions

Q1) What is the percentage increase in the production of car A from 2010 to 2011?
Q2) What is the percentage decrease in the production of the car B from 2010 to 2013?
Q3) By what percentage the production of car B in 2012 is less than  that of cumulative production of CAR A and C?
Q4) By what percentage the production of car A is less than that of total production of all the cars in all the years?

That’s all for today. Hope you will do whatever I have recommended. I am gonna post more questions in the meanwhile to keep you in touch with this topic.
